A short guide to lofi Christmas
What is lofi Christmas?
Lofi Christmas is slow, warm, dusty-sounding instrumental hip-hop with a wintry feel: soft keys, muted drums, a bit of tape hush and the quiet of snow. It’s holiday music for background listening rather than singing along.
On this site it’s all original music by Purrple Cat. Snowbound (2019) and Ice Palace (2024) are the two Christmas Self Release albums. The Advent calendar puts one track behind each of 24 kraft doors.
Lofi Christmas without the jingle bells
If you love December but not the twentieth replay of the same carols, this is the quiet version: no sleigh-bell covers, no vocals (except the rare Purrple Cat vocal releases, which are not on this calendar). It still feels like the season — cocoa, frost, late nights under the tree.
For a holiday livestream
Everything here is free to play on stream with the credit line, and the Self Releases have no Content ID, so VODs stay clean. Try By the Fire for chatty evenings and Midnight Snow when the room gets quiet. Download the M3U8 for your playlist software.
For studying in December
Study Under the Tree keeps energy low and steady. Pair it with the sleep timer in the player if you work late.
FAQ
Is this Christmas lofi really free to use?
Yes. Every track is by Purrple Cat and free under CC BY 4.0. Use it in videos, livestreams, podcasts, games, shops and on all social media, as long as you credit: “Music by Purrple Cat (purrplecat.com), licensed under CC BY 4.0”.
Can I use it on YouTube or Twitch without a copyright claim?
Yes. These are Purrple Cat’s own Self Releases, and Self Releases have no Content ID. Add the credit line to your description.
Can I upload these songs to Spotify?
No. Don’t upload the music, remixes, samples or covers to music streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube Music.
Is any of this AI music?
No. Purrple Cat’s music is not AI-generated.
Why an Advent calendar?
Because it’s November and December, and opening a door is a nicer way to meet 24 winter songs than staring at a flat playlist. Early opens are allowed — the doors are never locked.
